Building a Virtual Network Lab using VMware and Cisco Virtual IOS (IOSv)

From the previous post, We have successfully booted the Cisco Virtual IOS (IOSv) included on the OnePK All-in-One Virtual Machine. Now we will build a Virtual Network for simulation using Cisco Virtual IOS (IOSv) and VMware Workstation.

Here you will see that the interfaces are all assign to bridged of the host machine which we need to change to build the network topology we wanted.

These are the steps.

Step 1: Edit Virtual Machine (Any)

Step1_VM_Edit

Step 2. Create LAN Segments

Step2_Create_LAN_Segments

LANSegments

Step 3. Assign Cisco Virtual IOS (IOSv) to the LAN Segment Created as per topology

R1-R3 Connection

R1-R3_Segment2

R1-R2 Connection

R1-R2_Segment

Repeat on all the other Cisco Virtual IOS (IOSv) Interface setting to complete the topology.

Note:

  •  Gi0/0 – 1st Virtual IOS network Adapter
  •  Gi0/1 – 2nd Virtual IOS network Adapter

4-router-Segment

After completely assigning the interface on the Cisco Virtual IOS (IOSv) to its designated Segment we could now check the connectivity between Routers.

R1_Ping R2_Check R3_Check R4_Check1

Upon checking we have confirm that its working as expected, With these we could create complex network using VMWare LAN Segment option to connect interfaces of Cisco Virtual IOS (IOSv) as we please.
